Project overview
An industrial garage space was transformed into a state-of-the-art mechanical engineering laboratory facility. Brodie obtained a special use permit for higher education from the city planning department and coordinated between the faculty and the design team to make sure the highly specialized lab equipment needs were designed in harmony with the structural requirements of the space. The construction and activation of the facility were completed in time for fall-term occupants to use the new space.
Brodie also managed the conversion of lab halls into biotech laboratory space in three phases over four years. Phase 1 converted existing data center space to biotech research labs. Phase 2 converted office space to classroom space, a “Maker Lab”, and a student commons area. Phase 3 converted classrooms into biotech suites for research and teaching labs. Brodie provided design coordination, budget development and tracking, schedule management, construction administration, and activation for this rich and complex project.
